An Overview of Hero Design, Complexity, and Play-style.
In Euthia: Torment of Resurrection, every hero you choose offers a very distinct gameplay experience. With characters ranging from agile rogues, huge burst dealing mages, to necromancers and healers, the game offers a varied assortment of interesting heroes to play. This hero diversity is a core part of Euthia’s appeal — but it also means that understanding each character’s strengths and limitations is important, especially for newcomers. As this is a game I enjoy greatly, I wanted to make it easier for newcomers to understand the various heroes at a glance, making it easier for them to pick a hero with the playstyle and complexity that they had in mind.
The game's base set features six heroes, each with their own combat focus, different stats, and varied build paths. Additional expansions introduce even more specialized heroes with mechanics like summoning, bond magic, and unique resource-based power boosts. Fierce Powers/Crawling Shadows increase the hero count with 2 more, and the upcoming expansion Cruel Frost will add 4 additional heroes. Cruel Frost is set to arrive to backers in November this year!
Each hero in the sheet has information on starting HP, starting tiles, unlock costs, complexity ratings, overall description, some pro/cons of each hero etc. The document is styled as a quick-reference help sheet, summarizing these factors, offering players a way to compare hero roles at a glance. It highlights not only the mentioned raw stats, but also gameplay notes on elements such as early-game vulnerabilities, build strategies, and economic constraints like gold or essence dependencies.
Do note, that other than the fact based starting stats, the rest is in my subjective opinion. I have played all heroes, although some just a few times, others many times. I would be very happy if anyone has input on this!
