Can I attack an area with dragons (trigger a battle against an opponent - in rules is OUT OF COMBAT) and gain a loyalty token at the same time, after winning that battle and gaining control of the land...or not? ... After I win an area battle and have control of an area, I get all loyalty tokens - am I getting this right?

Hi @StevenJohn and welcome to BGD!

You attack an area with dragons versus an opponent, and you win the battle. That means you gain control of the area, and thus gain any (even multiple) loyalty tokens if the area contained it, that is true. Do remember you cannot gain any loyalty tokens until you have gained control of the area, ie. no enemies or enemy tokens there. So when starting a combat, you can't gain it yet, you must finish the combat and be victorious.

Was that understandable or do you have more questions? :)
